Morgan Ferone: Young Woman of Distinction in our Eyes Too

September 18, 2015

We met Morgan Ferone in June when she began her two month internship as a Covenant Presbyterian People in Mission Scholar. She jumped in right away, learning every volunteer job possible and training to be a facilitator for our Walk in My Shoes education program. Morgan was always on the move and when she wasn’t needed in the showers, laundry, mail room, counseling, phone desk, front desk, or education programs, she began tackling our jumbled mess of forms stored in the copiers in each building. Not a project for the faint of heart or anyone without patience or critical thinking skills. That’s one reason she’s a ‘woman of distinction’ in our eyes: one minute she was immersed in service to others in a compassionate and efficient way, and the next she was solving our logistical problems so we could work smarter and faster!

Morgan credits much of her skills, attitude and character to the Girl Scouts and you will see in this video why she was selected for the Young Woman of Distinction award at the Hornets’ Nest Council’s 10th annual Women of Distinction luncheon.

We were impressed with Morgan’s courage, confidence and character and you can see it shine in her acceptance speech at the September 9 luncheon.  We congratulate Morgan on her achievement and cannot wait to see what’s next for this amazing young woman.
