Pauline Everett, Tenant Engagement Specialist
Born and raised in Charlotte, Pauline Everett was taught by her parents to always help others. “Both of my parents were givers, always helping somebody,” she says. Pauline reflects that her work at Forest Point Place “is always a rewarding experience. I always enjoy trying to help as much as I can.” She brings years of experience in human services to her work at Roof Above. Pauline first joined the Roof Above team at SECU The Rise on Clanton and Moore Place through a temp agency 3 years ago, and she was brought on full-time as a Tenant Support Specialist when Forest Point Place opened in 2023.
As a Tenant Support Specialist, Pauline has a vital role in the daily care of tenants through connecting with them and making sure their needs are met. Known as Ms. P. to tenants, she focuses on building rapport. “It’s sort of like family in a way. Everybody’s concerned about your well-being,” she says.
Pauline’s secret is active listening. It’s how she supports tenants and one of her favorite parts of the job. “They can say something that can brighten your day,” she reflects. “Most people just want you to listen to them.” After 3 years of connecting with tenants over conversations, Pauline has learned a lot – about their personalities, families, and experiences of homelessness. “Some of them have been out of regular housing for years and they say they’re just so grateful to be able to have a roof over their head.” She says, “I just like seeing tenants happy, making the best of their situation.” Thanks to caring people like Pauline, Forest Point Place is a space for connection and stability.
Kameelah Pearson, Property Manager
For many moving in, Property Manager Kameelah Pearson is the first person they meet at Forest Point Place. She manages all lease signings and introduces tenants to the expectations — and the spirit — of the community. Kameelah has held several roles at Roof Above, but this is her favorite so far. “When people are coming in, this is all new to them,” she says. “I can make it less intimidating and more welcoming.”
Kameelah and her family experienced housing insecurity in the past, and she emerged from those challenges with a strong sense of purpose. “That’s why I work here,” says Kameelah. “I know first-hand that what we do really matters.” At a recent lease signing, Kameelah used her own experience to connect with Mr. and Mrs. Silva.
