Group Opportunities

Donating your time and talents to a group can create an unmatched sense of camaraderie while helping neighbors who are vulnerable and experiencing homelessness.

Sandwich & Bagged Lunch Programs:

Roof Above gives out 300 bagged lunches daily for over 100,000 per year.  This opportunity is a great way for volunteers, regardless of age, confidence level, or size of the group, to participate in helping our neighbors.

These bagged lunches include two sandwiches, snacks, drinks, utensils, and napkins.  Our neighbors love having dessert, also!

We have three different locations that need sandwiches and bag lunches:

N. Tryon Shelter Sandwich Program:

Assemble 100-400 sandwiches off-site for lunch at our North Tryon Men's Shelter.

Day Services Center Sandwich & Bag Lunch Program

We serve 300 bag lunches daily, over 200,000 sandwiches/100,000 bag lunches annually.

Harvest Haul

Most Saturdays, donated produce is collected from the CLT Regional Market and the Uptown Farmers Market.  Volunteers set up the Roof Above bins in the morning. At the end of the market, the volunteer transports the full bins are transported to the Tryon Shelter at 1210 N. Tryon Street (must be 18 years or older).

On Sundays, we seek volunteers to chop vegetables at our N. Tryon Street Shelter. To work in the kitchen, all volunteers must be 18 years old or older, be fully vaccinated & wear a mask.
